Bone Stock Rules
for
Full Size, Compact, & Minivan
Participants Regulations: Bone Stock class is open to all men and women 15 and over. Driver may move forward or backward. Driver must make contact every 60 seconds or be disqualified. No sandbagging. You must show visible damage or must move when hit.
Prize Money: Is different for every show. Check schedule for this.
Preparation of cars: This class will be limited to 1980’s and newer cars, no cars considered old iron will be allowed. All glass, chrome, pot metal, carpet, head lights, tail lights, back seats must be removed. 108” wheelbase or greater is considered a full-size car.
COMPACTS – To compete, your car must have a 110” wheel base or less. No V8. FWD only.
Mandatory: Must have number on both front doors and on roof sign, MUST be big enough and bright enough to read. Use your choice of number. No profanity. Any team show cars must have cars painted the same. NO BLACK CARS.
THE RULES BELOW ARE THE ABSOLUTE MAX YOU MAY DO TO A CAR.
1. DASH: may be removed.
2. GAS TANK: stock gas tank can be used under car, if in front of rear tires. If not, must be changed to inside it must be a metal fuel cell no exceptions. Must be secured properly and no fuel leakage. No more than 6 gallons gas. Gas tanks can be mounted to backseat bar. Mount must stay 8” from backseat sheet metal.
3. BATTERY: may be relocated to inside of car but must be secured properly (1 automotive battery)
4. CORE SUPPORT: You may use 2 all thread no larger than 3/4” with washers no bigger than 4 inches outside diameter. All thread may go through the frame & must go through core support. (THESE 2 MUST BE ON THE OUTSIDE OF RADIATOR SUPPORT). Core support bolt may be replaced with 3/4” all thread (MAX). Bolts may go through bottom of frame and hood. Can replace body mount with 2” spacer, OEM diameter (MAX).
5. HOOD: must have a 5”x5” hole cut in it to extinguish fires. Hood must open for inspection and must remain on hinges. You can use 8 pieces of chain 3/8” with 6 places hood to fender, 2 from hood to bumper or you can use 9 wire the same way with 3 wraps per fastening spot. Must have windshield bar from top of windshield to top of fire wall you can use 9 wire, chain or 3” flat metal. 2 max in this area.
6. TRUNKS: must be on hinges. You can use 8 pieces of chain 3/8” in trunk 6 to fasten trunk lid and 2 from trunk lid to bumper. You can use 9 wire the same way with 3 wraps per fastening spot or six 3/8” bolts - no longer than 3”. You can tuck 50% of trunk lid only or remove trunk lid completely.
7. BUMPERS: may have a total of two 4”x 5”x1/4” plate welded or bolted for mounting purposes. This plate may bolt to frame with 4 bolts or welded to frame with one pass 1/2” wide MAX (If welded to frame, shocks must be removed). As stated in rule 4 &5 you can also use nine wire or chain along with bolting. You may swap out aluminum bumpers to 80’s and newer steel bumper or a single piece of 4”x4” tubing, 1/4” thick—tubing must be straight along front of car, must have last 6” of bumper on both ends angled back no less than 30 degrees. Corners may be cut and welded. Allowed to be bent no wider than inside of front tires and must attach the same as stock. You may use a light 80’s style replica bumper. (CALL WITH QUESTIONS).
COMPACTS are allowed a 3”X3” square tubing, no longer than 3” to mount bumper to front of frame in place of bumper shocks. Must use the 4”X 5” plate to mount to frame. No tubing inside of frame.
8. DOORS: you can use 6 pieces of chain 3/8” per door or 6 pieces of 9 wire per door with 3 wraps. Both front doors can have a 6” wide piece of channel or equivalent from 6” in front of front doors to 6” behind front doors. May be welded or bolted. May have four bar floating cage not to exceed 6” cage material, cannot go any further back than 8” from front door seam. Front bar must be in dash area, must be at least 5” off floor.
9. TIRES: D.O.T. approved light truck tires (MAX). No bar or skid steer tires allowed. Small wheel centers, small valve stem protectors and double tires allowed. Must be a car tire and rim.
10. NO HEADER PIPES. (Including Compacts.)
11. REAR ENDS: Locking of rear ends permitted.
12. REAR SPRINGS/FRONT SPRINGS: Springs may have four spacers, no larger than 2”x2”. No swapping of front springs to rear.
13. FRAMES & 9 WIRE: Notching of frame permitted but cannot be welded back together. Bent frames may be repaired by flattening bent area, not to exceed 3” of repaired spot. You may use unlimited 9 Wire.
14. SHIFTER: Push pull shifter allowed. You may add T-Handle to shifter. Factory cable shifters may be moved to floor but must use factory cables for the car you are running only.
15. STARTER: Push button start allowed.
16. THIS IS THE MAX OF WHAT YOU CAN DO ON A BONE STOCK CAR. DO NOT DO ANYMORE THAN THIS OR YOU WON’T BE RUNNING THIS CLASS.
17. CLAIM RULE: An $800.00 CLAIM ON THIS CLASS. TO CLAIM A CAR YOU MUST BE IN THIS CLASS AND A DRIVER. YOU MUST TELL AN OFFICIAL THAT YOU WANT TO CLAIM A CAR. IF MORE THAN ONE CLAIM IS MADE NAME WILL BE DRAWN FROM A HAT. THE DRIVER THAT CLAIMED THE CAR AND THE DRIVER OF THE CAR THAT WAS CLAIMED WILL SWAP CARS AND $800.00 WILL GO TO DRIVER WHOSE CAR WAS CLAIMED. IF DRIVER DOESN’T FORFEIT THEIR CAR, PRIZE MONEY WILL BE SPLIT AMONG TOP 10 IN THE CLASS.
18. PROTEST RULE: MUST PROVE THERE IS SOMETHING NOT LEGAL ABOUT CAR. IF YOU DON’T, YOUR $800.00 IS FORFEITED.
