Stock demo derby rules
Stock class is open to all men and women 16 and over, 16 and 17 year olds
must have a notarized permit by signed parent/guardian.
Must have a driver’s license. In fairness to all the following rules and regulations
shall prevail.
PARTICIPANT REGULATIONS
Driver may move forward or backward. Driver must make contact every 60 seconds
or be disqualified. No sandbagging, If you sandbag the race will be stopped
and a sandbagger flag will be put on top of your car and who ever takes you
out will automatically advance to the feature. If there is a sandbagger in
the feature who ever takes him/her out will get $50.00. No team driving allowed
not even on a sandbagger. Cars must move when hit or show visible damage.
No drivers door hits allowed..
PRIZE MONEY
Prize money is different at each show so go to www.gsademoderby.com for
info on this.
ENTRY FEE
Each car/driver shall pay $25.00. Each pit person shall pay $20.00 unless
stated different on web page. All divers and pit persons must sign waiver
and release of liability before entering pits or track. Entries will be accepted
up to 1-hour prior to race time.
PREPARATION OF CARS
This class will be limited to 1980 or newer cars.
No screws allowed. No plastic gas tanks (heavy duty plastic racing fuel
cells are allowed) No Wedging, No sedagons. NO jeeps, trucks,(ranchero,elecamino
considered trucks) no carryalls, no Hearst, no limos, no convertibles.
All glass, chrome, pot metal, lights, carpet, headliner, back seats, fiber
glass (anything flammable must be removed) before reaching the exhibit area
(do not break glass down in doors) Trunks must be empty of all debris, spare
tire rims, parts etc. Wagons must have spare tire flap removed or hole cut
in it for inspectors to see. ABSOLUTELY no welding besides what is stated
in these rules .Unlimited 9-wire
MANDATORY-YOU must have number on both front doors big enough to
read and bright enough color to see. Also must have number on roof with name
on roof above front doors. Use your choice of number. No profanity allowed
on cars.
ENGINE
Motors must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler etc. Musts be
mounted in stock position on v-blocks engines front spark plug must be even
or in front of upper ball joints. On inline engines #2 spark plug must be
even or in front of upper ball joints. Motor mounts maybe welded. Engines
must have air breather. Header pipes are O.K.
RADIATORS
May be removed but not relocated.
TRANSMISSION
No transmission coolers allowed.
BATTERY
Must be in secure position and be covered with something nonflammable like
rubber tube, rubber floor mat etc. Batteries must be secured so they don’t
move.
SUSPENSION
Must remain stock. No weld on shocks, no trailer hitches, special lifts,
blocks, air shackles, air shocks, air lifts must be deflated. Cars must have
give or bounce.
REAR ENDS
Rear ends must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler etc. No truck
rear ends and nothing to exceed 12 bolt rear end cover. Locking of rear ends
permitted.
DRIVE SHAFTS
Must be OEM stock drive shaft.
TRAILING ARMS & A-ARMS
Must be factory absolutely no reinforcing, shortening or lenghtening.
STREERING COLUMN
The steering column may be modified gear box to steering wheel all other
caponets must remain factory.
HOOD
Must remain in factory position. 6- Hood bolts allowed only two may
go threw frame none in front of radiator. Bolts must not be no bigger then
¾ with washers no bigger then 6-inch outside diameter. Must have two
holes cut in hood big enough for fire extinguisher. Not directly over carburetor.
You may use 20 bolts around header holes no bigger then SAE 3/8 with
washers no bigger then 1-inch outside diameter.
TRUNK
You can use 4-3/4 bolts in trunk and 2 may go threw frame with washers no
bigger then 6-inch outside diameter. Trunk lids must remain on factory hinges.
Tucking of trunk lid is allowed. But, absolutely no wedging. you may Chain
or nine wire.
BODY
No seam welding, No patching, pre-denting O.K.
FENDERS
Fenders may be trimmed and 10-bolts may be used per fender no bigger then
3/8 with washers no bigger then 1-inch outside diameter.
BODY MOUNT BOLTS
Must be factory size and length and must be in factory position. And cannot
extend threw floor of car. Must have factory rubber bushings.
FRAME
Absolutely no welding on frame, no reinforcing of frame what so ever. You
can notch frame. No patching of frames.
DOORS
May be welded solid with a strap no bigger then 3-inches, on out side only.
Driver’s door should be reinforced. On wagons tail gates no welding. May use
four bolts to secure tail gate no bigger then ¾ with 6-inch outside
diameter. Or Chain or nine wire.
CAGE
You may have a cage with two side bars and three cross bars. The cage cannot
extend past the dash area in the front and must be in front of the rear fender
wells in the back on sedans. On wagons the bars cannot go past middle of back
doors. This can be welded in. Absolutely no kickers. You may have a
halo bar none of the cage can connect to frame.
BUMPERS
Must be GM to GM, Ford to Ford, Chrysler to Chrysler etc. No truck bumpers.
No welding on bumpers. They can be wired, or chained. No welding of shocks
or brackets. If you have a aluminum bumper you may change it but must stay
with same make as car.
GAS TANKS
Maximum of 5-gallons gas. Gas tank must be placed in back seat area and
properly secured. Tanks must be secured so there is no movement. (Do not
use bungee cords for this) If tank is not secure you will not be running.
Tanks must have secure caps and be leak proof. All fuel lines must
have no leaks. Stock gas tanks in cars must be removed or have holes in them
and washed out. No plastic tanks. (Heavy duty plastic racing fuel cells may
be used). You must have a shield of metal or tin between driver and gas tank.
(This may be mounted with screws)
TIRES
DOT approved light truck tires. No tire inside of tire. No field tile inside
of tire. No fluid inside of tire. Absolutely nothing inside of tire besides
tube and air. Valve stem protector O.K. No fork lift tires, No implement tires,
No tractor tires.
This is a stock class it will remain a stock class so do not do any
more then what is stated in these rules. Do not do anything to make
your car illegal after inspection. If this happens you will be disqualified
and no return of entry. Official have the right to re-inspect your cars at
anytime.
SAFTY RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Cars must have at least one bar attached in center
of windshield from roof down to dash area to prevent hood from coming
in.
2. Radiator overflow hoses must be pointing at the ground
and fastened so they can not shoot water towards officials or other drivers.
3. Header pipes must be pointing straight up cannot be
aimed toward front of car.
4. Note if you have a hole in fire wall it should be covered.
5. Safety belts are required.
6. DOT approved helmets mandatory. Any driver using an
open face helmet will not be cover by insurance if a facial injury occurs.
7. Safety glasses or shield recommended.
8. Mandatory you must wear long pants. And a shirt. (fire
suits recommended)
9. 2-fires you’re out unless fuel fire then 1-fire your
out.
10. No alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed in pit area
or track.
11. No pit person allowed on track.
12. Note: management does have the right to disqualify
a car/driver at anytime. Any person on track or causing trouble and
not complying with rules will be ask to leave. (We can have you escorted off
or have you arrested, and can be banned from running or being in pit area
at future G.S.A. events. PROTEST must be made no later then 5-minutes after
heat in question. No protest will be taken after feature event and only drivers
may protest. (officials will re-inspect top cars)
